Roberta is a Brand & Web Designer based in Dublin, specializing in helping passionate business owners craft authentic brands that deeply connect with their target audience. With over 18 years of experience in the industry, Roberta firmly believes that brands should not only be seen, but also felt. Her primary focus lies in unearthing the unique voice and personality of each brand, enabling her to sculpt a brand identity that not only mirrors its essence, but also forges a meaningful connection with its audience.

At the heart of Roberta's methodology is the belief that brands possess both a 'body' and a 'soul.' The 'soul' encapsulates the 'why,' values, and narrative, forming the core essence of the brand. The 'body,' on the other hand, encompasses the visual components such as logos, colors, typography, and online presence, giving tangible form to that essence. Through the seamless integration of these elements, Roberta crafts robust, one-of-a-kind brand identities that resonate with audiences on a profound level.

On a personal note, Roberta is from Portugal but has called Dublin her home since 2013, where she resides with her family. During her leisure time, she finds happiness in nature, indulges in sea swimming, and enjoys getting lost in a good book.

the story

I am Roberta, founder and designer at By Roberta - Branding & Design Studio. Ever since I was little, my parents thought I'd grow up to be a singer because I was always belting out ad jingles from the TV. But it turned out, I was more impressed by the world of brands and marketing than by singing. I always leaned towards the creative side – starting with fashion design, art, and eventually finding my true calling in graphic design. I have also loved magic, symbology and semiotics. I went on to university and after 5 year degree I graduated in Communication Design.

Life had other plans for a while, though. I found myself working as a Project Manager and Data Analyst in big corporates, far from my creative roots.

In 2019 after leaving a toxic job (because life's too short for that), I decided to jump back into design and go freelance. Then, life hit hard again – my dad passed away unexpectedly at the age of 59. It was a wake-up call about life's brevity. My business took a backseat as I dealt with grief, and when I returned, I realized I had to face my shadows including battling low self-confidence and fragile mental health. Starting my business was not only to fulfil my dream but also to make my dad proud, especially knowing how short life can be.

Grief sometimes knocks me off course, but it also fuels my drive. I understand how it feels, and I want to use my experiences to help others find healing and hope. Three years on, my father remains my guiding star. This journey has shaped my approach to branding and web design, especially for personal brands. I believe every brand has a 'body' and 'soul' – the soul captures the essence, values, and story, while the body is the visual part, like logos and colors. 

My job is to bring these together, creating a resonant, authentic identity for each brand.
Empowering local and small businesses in Ireland is my passion. I love giving them the tools to stand out against bigger competitors, instilling the same confidence that I had to rediscover in myself. Just like I did, I want them to chase their dreams unapologetically.
